Ben Newman
Trial Attorney
Ben is a civil trial lawyer with a proven track record of success in the courtroom. After earning his undergrad degree from University of Texas at Austin, Ben chose Baylor Law School because it’s one of the top trial advocacy law schools in the nation (U.S. News & World Report ranks it as number three in the country in trial advocacy). Before starting Newman Law, Ben worked at two defense firms in Dallas, where he represented Fortune 500 companies and tried numerous cases to verdict.
Since starting Newman Law, Ben has consistently obtained jury trial verdicts, as lead trial counsel, that have ranked among the Top 50 and Top 100 Verdicts in Texas across all practice areas. He’s won multiple trial verdicts that’re over 50 times higher than the pretrial settlement offers of his opponents. He was nominated and accepted into the National Top 100 Trial Lawyers as well as the “Top 40 Under 40” list by the National Trial Lawyers organization. He’s also been nominated and accepted as a Texas Super Lawyer Rising Star since starting his practice. He’s an active member of the Capital Area Trial Lawyers Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Association for Justice.
When Ben is not working on cases, you can find him on neighborhood walks with his wife, Elisabeth, their two toddlers, Hayes and Campbell, and their two golden retrievers, Louie and Sota. When he’s not preparing for court, he’s often on the tennis court—competing in tournaments in the Texas heat. On Saturdays in the Fall, you can find him at DKR Memorial Stadium, cheering on his Texas Longhorns with his wife and closest friends.
Ivcel Betancourt
Litigation Paralegal
Ivcel Betancourt is the steady force behind the scenes. Prior to joining Newman Law, Ivcel spent over seven years as a paralegal at a large litigation firm with numerous offices nationwide. During those seven years, she was quickly promoted to managing a large team of paralegals and staff.
Our trial teams and clients know her as a reliable teammate who excels at everything from coordinating discovery to managing every deadline and trial exhibit with surgical precision. She’s a gifted investigator who skillfully utilizes the Texas and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure to obtain documentary evidence that’s critical to our cases. She contributes immensely to keeping our cases moving with litigation velocity and momentum.
Outside of work, she’s an avid reader and enjoys journaling and organizing. She finds joy in activities that spark her curiosity and fulfillment in helping others.
